Welcome to our ski touring lodge in Northern Norway!
From mid February to end of May this is a paradise for Ski Touring.
Gratangen is a fjord north of Narvik. Our base is the classic Gratangen Fjellhotell, which opens again in the winter of 2018/2019
Gratangen Fjellhotell was built in 1928. It was burned to the ground during the 2nd world war and rebuilt 1947-49. The area of Gratangen and Narvik plays a part in the tradition of mountain and skiing culture and we are proud to take part in writing new chapters.
The area is perfect for ski touring. From Gratangen Fjellhotell, we can put on the climbing skins directly outside the hotel and climb 3 different mountains with over 1000 vertical meters. From the summit, we overlook different fjords. If we want, we can take our minibus to other mountains in the area, within one hours drive there are over 50 mountains with excellent ski touring.
Northern Lights
Northern Lights is also known as Aurora Borealis. This magical phenomenon is a strong reason to come early in the season.
Midnight sun
We are north of the Arctic Circle and in May the sun never goes down. Throughout the evenings and nights, it colors the mountains red, pink, purple and a thousand different shades in between.
The snow on the peaks in this area remains long and it is no problem to go on ski touring until June.
Being able to move with the weather and snow is a strength in this area and we always include car transport in our trips. This way we can freely move and alternate the tours with freedom.
Lift access Freeride skiing
The lift in Narvik is only 30min away and if you want to we can go there and ski from the lift. It's a small resort with only 5 lifts but it has a good 900 vertical meters of skiing.
Season
The season for ski touring lasts from February to May. If you want the sun to be completely over the horizon at midnight you have to wait until May 13th. But it is just as beautiful the month before when the sun just touches the bottom of the horizon.
Program
Based in Gratangen north of Narvik you will ski with your mountain guide every day during your stay with us.
The group meets their mountain guide for planning the tour and sets off in the morning with a minibus towards the top which offers the best conditions for a nice trip that very day. If possible, we are happy to go directly from the hotel to one of our "home mountains" Spanstind, Högtinden or Årsteinshornet.
Accommodation
We stay at the classic Gratangen Fjellhotell with excellent views over the fjord and the mountains. It offers accommodation in double or single rooms. All rooms have showers and toilets in the room. There is also a sauna and a fitness room for yoga or stretching after a day out.
Equipment
The idea is to explore and experience the winter mountains in this fantastic area with slopes under the skis. Safety equipment for avalanches etc is included.

The price applies to individual / groups of 4-7 people. We need a minimum of 4 participants to run the trip.
Weekend or Week?
We are happy to make this trip as weekend from Wednesday to Sunday or as full week Sunday to Sunday.
Price example
Weekend Wed-Sun in open group, 4days skiing with Mountain Guide, chared double/twin room, full board and local transport; SEK 12 250 (1150Euro) per person in group of 6 guests.
W eek Sunday-Sunday in open group, 6days skiing with Mountain Guide, part in twin/ double room, full board and local transport; SEK 17300 (1730Euro) per person in group of 6 guests.
